About Chris Throgmorton

Chris Throgmorton doesn’t pass the buck. From leading more than 150 Marines to managing clinical trial transparency at Neurocrine Biosciences, he’s built a career on stepping up and doing whatever needs to be done.

Today, as Head of Clinical Transparency at Neurocrine, he drives global clinical trial disclosure and transparency strategy, ensuring compliance with FDAAA 801, EU CTR, and other evolving regulatory frameworks.

He brings a no-nonsense approach informed by decades of experience in the military, biopharmaceutical, and government-regulated sectors. This background taught him how to cut through the noise and keep teams focused on what matters.

Building Transparency from the Ground Up

At Neurocrine Biosciences, Chris Throgmorton has personally developed every aspect of the company’s clinical trial disclosure program. This includes internal standard operating procedures (SOPs), vendor oversight models, and document management systems such as Smartsheet and SharePoint.

He’s responsible for managing compliance with FDA regulations, the AA 801, EU Clinical Trial Regulation (CTR), and EMA Policy 0070, among numerous other regulations. Chris is also the go-to voice in the field of clinical transparency, offering guidance to executive leadership and leading cross-functional teams to stay ahead of new regulatory changes.

A Strong Track Record at Amgen

Before joining Neurocrine, Chris spent several years at Amgen, one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies. He was a Program Lead at the Global Medical Organization, where he handled supplier management and performance analytics in Global Regulatory Affairs and Safety.

His focus at Amgen included overseeing over $50 million in budget, creating the vendor governance model, and leading the strategy for more than 15 global drug products across four primary therapeutic areas. This also includes operational streamlining and waste cutting, which had a noticeable impact on team dynamics.

Chris was the architect behind key sourcing frameworks and performance dashboards, helping leadership make faster and smarter decisions. His work helped improve audit readiness and brought consistency to vendor oversight and reporting across the board.

A Foundation in Service and Structure

Chris Throgmorton’s first experience with leadership came during his time in the U.S. Marine Corps. There, as a Sergeant and Quality Assurance Safety Observer, he was responsible for leading not only Marines but also civilian contractors.

His unit was the only one on base to pass its annual audit while he was in charge—something that earned him the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

That early experience shaped Chris’s approach to leadership today, focusing on process, developing systems that last, and leading with integrity. It also fostered a deep sense of service that he still carries through community involvement.

Giving Back Through Mentorship and Advocacy

Outside work, he contributes significant time and energy to charitable organizations and community-oriented efforts. He’s a consistent donor to CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County), whose mission is to nurture, advance, and protect the health and well-being of children.

He also serves on the board for Kid Gloves Boxing, a not-for-profit organization that leverages structured boxing programs to mentor and uplift at-risk youth. On top of that, he’s active with veteran support/transition services, helping former service members contend with mental struggles as they integrate into civilian life.
